Naperville Park District’s Centennial Beach is being filled this week with fresh water for the 2022 swimming season, which begins Sat., May 28, and continues through Mon., Sept. 5.
Located at 500 W. Jackson Avenue in downtown Naperville, Centennial Beach offers a sandy beach, zero-depth entry with water play features, a slide, deep-water and lap-swim areas and plenty of space for relaxing and picnicking.
During the month of May, Park District staff will prepare the Beach for opening. As soon as weather permits, lifeguard training will move from indoor facilities to the Beach and staff will begin setting up piers, Adirondack chairs, umbrellas and equipment. At this time, the Park District is still interviewing for lifeguard positions and encourages all who are interested to apply as soon as possible.
Centennial Beach has a full schedule of aquatic programs planned, including swim lessons, aquatic fitness classes, Beach Yoga, Paddleboard Yoga, Mudrats Swim Team and Water Polo Team, water polo instruction and springboard diving instruction.
Special Needs Nights are returning Sunday evenings June 12 and 26 and July 17 and 24, giving families with individuals who have special needs a time to enjoy a relaxing visit after regular operating hours.
