Founded in 1897, the Naperville Woman’s Club will kick off a year-long anniversary celebration on March 1, 2022. A variety of activities are planned that will highlight the club’s history and its continuing commitment to art, education, and community service.
A wreath-laying ceremony for two of the charter members will be held at Naperville Cemetery to start the observance of this important milestone. The Naperville Garden Club, founded in 1929 by Naperville Woman’s Club members, will create and donate the wreaths. The ceremony will take place at 2PM on March 1. The public is invited.
Following the wreath laying, club members and invited guests will enjoy a reception at the club’s local landmark building in the heart of Naperville, 14 S. Washington St. Bryan Ogg, noted Naperville historian, has been invited to speak at the reception. Other activities include a mayoral proclamation and a feature on NCTV Spotlight.
“Our club’s enduring commitment to Naperville can be seen in all of the activities we support,” noted Julie Cunningham, president of the Naperville Woman’s Club. “From our signature event, the annual Fine Art and Artisan Fair, to our Witches Night Out Naperville fundraiser to our scholarships and support of local service organizations, for 125 years, club members have volunteered their talents and time to make Naperville a better place.”
