Update, Aug. 10, 2021 / NAPERVILLE CRIME STOPPERS are offering up to a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for shooting a handgun during a verbal altercation at the basketball court of Country Lakes Park located at 736 Genesee Drive on Wed., Aug. 4, 2021. No one was injured in this incident.
The Naperville Police Department responded to the incident on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at approximately 7:36PM. The suspect description at the time was a male, black, approximately 20-30 years of age, approximately 5’8” – 5’11”, thin build, short hair, tattoos, armed with a handgun. The pictured subject is a person of interest in the ongoing investigation of the events that occurred on that day.

Original Post, Aug. 5, 2021 / On Wed., Aug. 4, 2021, at approximately 7:36PM, the Naperville Police Department responded to the area of the 700 block of Genesee Drive (near Country Lakes Park) to a report of shots fired on the basketball court. When officers arrived, the basketball court was clear of people, but a caller had given a description of the possible offender.
An officer encountered a subject matching that description a short time later near North Aurora Road and Fairway Drive. That subject fled on foot and was not located after a search of the area by officers, including a K-9 unit.
A shell casing was located at the basketball court, but there is no indication that anyone had been hurt. The preliminary investigation indicated that two subjects got into an altercation and one retrieved a firearm from a bag. He then fired the weapon, apparently missing the other party.
➢ Suspect description: Male, Black, approximately 20-30 years of age, approximately 5’8”- 5’11”, thin build, short hair, tattoos, shirtless, wearing jeans, armed with handgun.
There were numerous potential witnesses reportedly near the court at the time of the shooting.
