Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise has partnered with Alexander Valley Vineyards and SixtyFour Wine Bar & Kitchen to present a virtual wine tasting beginning at 6:30PM (CST) on Sat., Jan. 23, 2021. The special one-hour event will benefit Cheryl’s Children’s Home and School in Nairobi, Kenya.

Hosted by the Wetzel family of Alexander Valley Vineyards, the wine tasting will be presented live online and will feature a guided tasting of three wines, wine-tasting notes and recipes as well as the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a 3-Night Stay for two individuals in the Historic School House guest house on the grounds of Alexander Valley Vineyards in the heart of Sonoma.

VIP ticket options, including meal pairings to enjoy at home from SixtyFour Wine Bar & Kitchen, located at 123 Water Street, in Downtown Naperville, also are available.

For information on the featured wines and event registration with two options, visit rotarywinetasting.org. Raffle tickets are $25 each or five tickets for $100.

Cheryl’s Children’s Home & School Benefit

Funds will support a new school building to be built for the orphanage.

Cheryl’s Children’s Home & School was founded to rescue forgotten, orphaned, abused, abandoned and hungry children in the slum areas in Nairobi.

“Sunrise Rotary seeks to help provide financial resources to improve the quality of life for 70 orphans living at Cheryl’s and another 175 students from nearby slums who attend K-8 school at Cheryl’s and receive 2 meals a day,” noted Mike Tenuta, President of Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise. “This project by our International Committee is in perfect alignment with our club’s mission to support youth and families both locally and globally.”

“These children have suffered the loss of parents to HIV-AIDS as well as other outcomes of severe poverty. Cheryl’s Children’s Home & School provides an enriching and caring environment for children to grow beyond the bonds of poverty,” added IdaLynn Wenhold, formerly of Naperville, who is Executive Director of 4:13 Inc, the nonprofit organization partnering with Sunrise Rotary in supporting Cheryl’s.

Proceeds of the event will contribute to the construction of a school (pre-K through 8th grade) at Cheryl’s Children’s Home & School, as well as textbooks, desks, and school supplies.
