NaperLights return bigger and brighter for the holidays in Downtown Naperville

-

The holidays may appear a little different this year, but in Downtown Naperville, Naperville Sunrise Rotary’s NaperLights holiday display will make the season even brighter as it expands its location along Water Street overlooking the south side of the Riverwalk.

Find plenty of holiday cheer after dark hosted by Rotary-Sunrise in Jaycees Park, accompanied by songs of the season.

Visitors can access the display from the Webster Street covered bridge, Main Street and Webster Street.  Strollers can enjoy the outdoors with public parking is available in the Water Street and Municipal Center parking decks. Lights on Water Street tress will be synced to music, as will the arch on the Foyo Plaza, making a drive-through experience for individuals preferring to stay in their cars.

Gift from Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise

The light display, a gift to the community from the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise, features 150,000 lights and a growing collection of giant lighted holiday figures including skating polar bears, penguins sliding on an igloo, skaters, snow men, carolers, gifts, baubles, and dancing trees.

The Imburgia Fountain will sing all season and up in the sky high above the Riverwalk, you might just spy Santa and his reindeer flying over the Marquette building and downtown.

For 2020, the Great Tree is located in Jaycees Park along Webster Street, near the Riverwalk Covered Bridge.

Animated lights and music will fill the area with carols synched to the lights, and the colorful arch on Foyo Plaza will be a popular photo spot.  The Great Tree, also popular for photos, will now be located at Jaycees Park adjacent to the Municipal Center at the end of Water and Webster Streets. Jaycees Park will also feature an interactive lighted Honey Locust Tree which will respond to sounds of clapping, singing or shouting.

NaperLights will be illuminated beginning the weekend of November 14 through the holiday season. While they last, the popular holographic viewing glasses will be available for kids from Rotary volunteers on weekends. Free-will donations to support Naperville Sunrise Rotary local and international charitable projects are welcomed.

Enter NaperLights from Main Street at Water Street by day or after dark. The colorful exhibit augments the sparkling Grand Illumination throughout downtown that begins every day at dusk during the holiday season. Visitors welcome! Simply follow local protocols by wearing a mask and keeping a 6-ft. distance.

“Water Street is thrilled to be partnering with the Sunrise Rotary Club to continue this popular family tradition. We were the first sponsors of the event years ago, so hosting at our property on Water Street, where visitors can enjoy it every night through the holidays is awesome,” says Nick Ryan, CEO of Marquette Companies. “We think families with relatives staying at Hotel Indigo will be delighted, and the spa, shops and restaurants on Water Street are planning a wide array of holiday enticements to enjoy throughout the season.”

Marquette, Ryan Hill Group and Water Street Naperville are the lead sponsors for NaperLights, with support from Gerald Subaru, Perma-Seal and Sourcebooks as well as several others.  Technical expertise and electrical manpower is provided by IBEW Local 701 and Power Forward DuPage.

Webster Street, joined by Jackson, Jefferson, Van Buren, Main and Washington streets, is aglow with thousands of twinkling white lights for downtown Naperville’s annual Grand Illumination. Follow local safety protocols for shopping and peaceful walks during the magic of the holiday season.
