Nutrition Knowledge – 20-Minute Strategies to Optimize Our Immune System

-

Is there much we can do to improve our immune response in a short period of time? YES! Our immune system is a constantly changing factor in our overall health, good or bad, depending on what we do for ourselves.

Follow these simple effective strategies EVERY DAY to quickly improve immune function.

  1. 20 minutes of exercise that increases our heart rate and makes us sweat, even a bit (brisk walk, jumping jacks), has been shown to cause a wonderful change in our body that affects almost 10,000 molecules in our blood. Exercise mobilizes billions of immune cells, especially those that target and kill virus-infected cells.
  2. 20 minutes of sun exposure, without sunscreen (but DON’T allow burning), facilitates synthesis of Vitamin D and other important biological processes, which is essential for our immune system to function properly.
  3. 20 minutes to make a leafy green salad with immune-boosting foods gives our body the needed protection and necessary nutrients to improve our ability to fight off invaders. Start with a nice bed of dark leafy greens and add some broccoli, red bell peppers, almonds, strawberries, blueberries, avocado and some high quality protein. Dress the salad with good quality olive oil, apple cider vinegar and some fresh herbs, garlic and ginger.
  4. 20-minute power nap, studies have shown, can boost memory, ease stress and improve our immune system function.
  5. 20 minutes of prayer and meditation have great benefits on our stress level and immune system by increasing our nitric oxide, which lowers blood pressure among other healthy reactions in our body.

We can stay healthy, or improve our health, in a relatively short amount of time… each day, and day after day. Break it down into effective, positive things and we will be healthier in no time.
