Sat., May 2, 2020 / Governor JB Pritzker announced on April 23, 2020, the extension of the Stay Home Order for Illinoisans effective May 1 and through May 30, 2020. Along with the continuation of the Stay-at-Home Order, the Governor announced some modest changes to associated restrictions, including animal grooming, golf courses, greenhouses, garden supply and plant nurseries. Also, retail stores designated as non-essential businesses and operations may reopen for phone and online orders, providing curbside pick-up and/or delivery. Order is to wear face masks inside public places beginning May 1, 2020.
Since January 22, 2020, when Edward Hospital first sent details about this pandemic, a “What You Should Know” post was updated regularly through March 18 until it simply was way too long. Ever since, this website has included COVID-19 daily by the numbers. Without knowing what the next day, even next hour, would present, PN also has connected to www.worldometers.info where simple graphs and other info are easy to follow, even when data seems inconsistent, changing so rapidly during these uncharted times.
Still, advice remains… Wash your hands often, but don’t wash away your common sense.
Help keep the community safe. Stay home and take in fresh air in your yard whenever possible. Beginning May 1, wear a face mask or bandana inside public places. Continue covering coughs and sneezes.
Hold onto hugs for future giving. Keep a 6′ social distance when taking walks to appreciate nature. Enjoy the flowers of spring in every neighbor’s garden. Remember moments of laughter. Sing. Call family and friends. Have faith, hope and charity to fulfill unmet needs of less fortunate.

May 2, 2020: Daily COVID-19 Case Counts* for DuPage County
*Data are provisional as of 11AM May 2, 2020, and subject to change.
Total cases in DuPage County residents are 3,439 (627 outbreak-associated** and 2,812 non-outbreakassociated cases), including 189 deaths
Total Willowbrook long-term care facility outbreak-associated cases 58 (39 residents and 19 staff), including 11 deaths

**Outbreak-associated cases are linked to a congregate setting (e.g., long-term care facilities, workplaces, schools) or large gathering (e.g., convention, concert).
Since yesterday (May 1, 2020), there are 194 new cases of COVID-19 in DuPage County including 15 deaths reported.
Regarding the 627 outbreak-associated cases (including 137 deaths) among DuPage County residents:
• 47 cases (including 11 deaths) are attributed to the Willowbrook long-term care facility (LTCF)
• 514 cases (including 126 deaths) are attributed to 50 additional LTCFs, and
• 66 cases are attributed to 28 outbreaks in other congregate settings and large gatherings.
DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) announces 15 additional deaths of persons with COVID-19 infection reported since yesterday:
• Male resident of DuPage County in his 70s with underlying conditions who had been living in the community,
• Male resident of DuPage County in his 60s with underlying conditions who had been living in the community,
• Male resident of a Hinsdale long-term care facility in his 90s with underlying conditions,
• Female resident of a Hinsdale long-term care facility in her 70s with underlying conditions,
• Male resident of a Naperville long-term care facility in his 80s with underlying conditions,
• Male resident of DuPage County in his 80s with underlying conditions who had been living in the community,
• Female resident of a Bloomingdale long-term care facility in her 90s with underlying conditions,
• Male resident of a Westmont long-term care facility in his 80s with underlying conditions,
• Male resident of a Hinsdale long-term care facility in his 80s with underlying conditions,
• Female resident of an Elmhurst long-term care facility in her 90s with underlying conditions,
• Male resident of a Naperville long-term care facility in his 80s with underlying conditions,
• Female resident of a Naperville long-term care facility in her 90s with underlying conditions,
• Female resident of a Lombard long-term care facility in her 80s with underlying conditions,
• Male resident of DuPage County in his 60s with underlying conditions who had been living in the community, and
• Male resident of DuPage County in his 90s with underlying conditions who had been living in the community.
DCHD offers our condolences to the families and caregivers of these individuals. We remain committed to address the unfortunate loss of life related to COVID-19. Our efforts continue with healthcare and community partners to reduce COVID-19 transmission in DuPage County.

Add cloth-covering face masks to practice of 6′ social distancing
The State of Illinois and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have made the recommendation to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus when in public, the use of clothcovering facemasks by the general public while maintaining 6 feet of social distancing. The recommended cloth facemasks are NOT the N95 masks which should still be reserved for first responders and medical workers who have direct contact with coronavirus patients.

May 2, 2020, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported another 2,450 cases of COVID-19 and an additional 105 deaths in Illinois, bringing the totals to 58,505 and 2,559 respectively. To date, 96 of Illinois’ 102 counties have been impacted, according to IDPH.
