Worknet DuPage offers support for workers impacted by COVID-19

-

Above / Patio season is just around the corner. Remote work is not an option for restaurant owners, cooks, servers, event planners and fellow employees who find great pleasure in the hospitality industry, where the reliable, motivated workforce aims to return to work. Cooks cook to nurture delicious tastes. Dedicated servers enjoy creating memorable dining experiences. And event planners are responsible for weddings, fundraisers and special occasions that keep communities connected.  (PN File Photo)

WorkNet DuPage is committed to providing workers and businesses with every tool in our arsenal to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic stronger than ever. Through its new From Layoff to Launch webpage, services aim to provide DuPage County residents with quick and easy access to a wide range of assistance in order to take back control of their careers in these uncertain times.

In addition to no-cost career planning and job search services, employees facing COVID-19-related or other layoffs may qualify for up-to-$10,000 in federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant funding (money that does not need to be paid back). Grants can be used to attend job training, certificate, or professional development programs that lead to in-demand careers that offer strong earning potential. Those receiving unemployment can continue to do so while attending these approved training programs.
