Pet Words of Wisdom – Why does Dog Patch help in our community?

-

My business is Dog Patch Pet and Feed. We’ve been open in Naperville since 1972. Naperville has always been there for us. As Naperville has grown, so have we.

Throughout the years we’ve always given back to the community that supports us. From building ponds outside of schools (Working with teachers and kids, we didn’t just randomly start putting ponds everywhere!), to speaking to classes inside.

We’ve helped sponsor school events, neighborhood events and fundraiser after fundraiser. We support our police k9 officers with free or greatly discounted food and supplies. We collect for and donate to as many rescue organizations as possible. We have a unique platform as both a pet store and a rescue. From Players for Pits to individuals who will foster a dog. We want to help.

We hunt down our adopted animals when they get loose from their new adopters. We know our animals will respond to us. Many of us have scoured unfamiliar neighborhoods doing our best to locate and grab up a missing pet. We use our 20,000-plus Facebook followers to get the word out and have helped many animals return home.

Naperville made us who we are today. We live here. We work here. This is your money helping our community. Small businesses like Dog Patch are what make communities special. Big box stores are impersonal. Your money flies off to headquarters in another state. Dollars spent at Dog Patch stay in Naperville.

If you’ve ever seen a Dog Patch gift basket at a charitable auction or our name in a program, maybe our name on a sponsor’s shirt; that’s your money coming back to you.

When you support a small business like Dog Patch, you become one of us. Individuals who get what they need for their pets and great advice – but even more so, helps our community. As more and more small businesses disappear, how will it impact our community? Who steps up to help?

Please support the locally-owned and operated businesses in Naperville. You won’t be paying for a CEO’s third home. You will be helping Our community. . .

And we’ll be forever grateful. Thank you!
