Robert Payton, MD, a resident of Naperville, has been named Vice President/Chief Medical Officer for Edward Hospital.
A board-certified general surgeon with Edward Medical Group (EMG). Dr. Payton became a member of the Edward Hospital Medical Staff in 2000 while practicing with Naperville Surgical Associates.
Dr. Payton has served Edward Hospital and EMG in many leadership capacities, most recently as Specialist Medical Director, EMG and President, Edward Hospital Medical Staff. He’s also been a member of numerous Edward Hospital committees, including Pharmacy & Therapeutics; Quality; and Medical Executive and he’s served on the Plainfield Surgery Center Board.
Dr. Payton earned his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership.
A native of Grosse Ile, Mich., Dr. Payton takes over as Chief Medical Officer for Sanjeeb Khatua, MD, who is now Executive Vice President of the Physician & Ambulatory Network for Edward-Elmhurst Health. Dr. Khatua is also Chief Physician Executive for the system.
