Positively Naperville travels the world! Thanks, PN Readers!

-

Above / Remember learning about Pangea in elementary school? PN’s image of Pangea depicts Naperville flagged on a hypothetical super-continent that includes all current land masses around the world. Dating back more than 200 million years to the Triassic and Jurassic Periods, the giant continent is believed to have been in existence before the continents began to break apart 175 million years ago and way before the internet.

Here’s hoping a few photos connect you to some people and places you might know.  Thanks, PN Readers!

PN visits Edinburgh, Scotland…

A fun-loving group from Naperville celebrated the 20th anniversary of Quigley’s Irish Pub during an Irish & Scottish Sampler arranged by Patti Powers.

(We love the memories this photo inspires from our visit to the Scotland more than a decade ago. The Crookston name (PN publisher’s maiden name) is on file way upstairs in the Edinburgh Castle with names of many other veterans’ who served the country for centuries.  And venturing to Glasgow, folks will find remains still standing of the medieval Crookston Castle built in the 1400s up on a hilltop.)

PN is online in Hawaii…

Here’s a picture that was recently taken in Hawaii with George Pradel’s younger brother, Paul, who now lives in Hawaii with his wife, Suellen.  Pam and I went to Hawaii with the intent of meeting them for dinner one night and I brought a copy of Positively Naperville with me specifically to have the attached picture taken.  Unfortunately, I accidentally left the paper in our hotel room.  When I shared my disappointment with Paul and Suellen of forgetting my PN, Paul immediately reminded me that he reads PN online all the time and that we could pretend that we were reading it that way!

I guess that this is one way of promoting your digital edition…

PN visits Dublin, Ireland…

A group from Naperville celebrated the 20th anniversary of Quigley’s Irish Pub with pints of Guinness in another authentic Irish pub in Dublin. The 8-day tour arranged by Patti Powers ventured throughout Ireland and Scotland.

PN visits Bermuda…

The Corrigan family ventured to Bermuda over Columbus Day weekend for a little getaway.

PN visits Florence, Italy…

We just got back from celebrating our 35th Anniversary in Italy. We took a PN along and took this picture in Florence in  (where else?) the Mercato Centrale – their big food market. … We left the newspaper in the hotel for others to read.😊

Thanks for all your support!

Thanksgiving Day, 2001

Editor’s Note / For 18 years, Positively Naperville has welcomed photos of PN readers. We appreciate every one!

While certainly not an original idea for a local publication, the first time we captured a photo of PN readers to publish was in 2001 during the annual Gertrude and Paul Mitchell Family Thanksgiving Day Reunion at Ross Camp near Purdue.

Cheers to fun travels and PN readers!
