The Y – Family adventure awaits

-

Parents having the opportunity to spend time together with their children is important for building healthy relationships, making life-long memories, and creating an environment that builds character and self-esteem in children. At the Naperville YMCA strengthening families is at the core of our mission. Parents who invest quality time in activities together are building a positive self-worth in their children.

The YMCA’s oldest and most established Family Strengthen Program is Y Adventure Guides. This program was established to bring parents and their children together. The Naperville YMCA is proud to be one of the YMCAs across the country to offer Y Adventure Guides. This extraordinary program provides parent and child an opportunity to spend time together, have fun and share experiences, which strengthens their relationships.

Naperville YMCAs Adventure Guides Program

The Naperville YMCAs Adventure Guides Program – Three Owls Federation – fosters great opportunities for parent and child to experience new adventures, strengthen their relationships, meet other families, and most important have fun. Families have the opportunity to participate in Campouts, Canoe on Wheels, Caroling, Cardboard Boat Regatta, Overnight at a Chicago Museum and so much more. The activities planned are designed so that parent and child can spend quality time together and foster their relationship while creating memories.

Father and program participant, Ken Banas, recounts his experience saying, “It’s one of the greatest experiences I’ve had with my kids and I’m really thankful I had a chance to do it.”

During elementary school years, children learn rapidly and become much more aware of the world around them. Through the Y Adventure Guides program, parents serve as their guide and participate in the journey alongside their children. In a society where so much time spent with technology, and where parents are searching for opportunities to spend quality time with their children, the Naperville YMCA invites you to get involved with this great program rich in history.
