Police Investigating Serious Traffic Crash Involving Pedestrian

On Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at approximately 7:22PM, the Naperville Police and Fire departments responded to the intersection of 5th Avenue and Royal Saint George Drive for a vehicle crash involving a 2006 Dodge Ram driven by a 61-year-old male out of Montgomery and a 29-year-old female pedestrian out of Naperville. The initial investigation indicates that the Dodge was traveling Northbound on 5th Avenue when it turned left at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Royal Saint George Drive, striking the pedestrian as she crossed the street.

The 29-year-old female pedestrian was transported from the scene with serious injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the accident. During the course of the initial investigation, a portion of the intersection of 5th Avenue and Royal Saint George Drive was closed and rerouted until approximately 9PM.

This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (630) 420-8833.
