UPDATED Post, Sept. 1, 2019 / Have you ever envied those super heroes in the movies as they scale down the side of a building, wishing to give it a try by challenging yourself? If so, folks from Operation Support Our Troops-America are organizing an “over-the-edge” experience for interested individuals from 9AM to 5PM on Sat., Sept. 14, at Hotel Arista in CityGate Centre.
Partnering with Over the Edge Global, OSOT-America and its participants will be rappelling down the side of the hotel to raise funds and awareness for the OSOT-America mission.
Along with rappelling, Over The Edge will include food, music, interactive displays and in general a day to honor U.S. military and their families, organizers said. Proceeds allow Operation Support Our Troops-America to continue serving more veterans and military families through our active duty, veteran and families of fallen programs.
Individuals wishing to participate must commit to raise a minimum $1,000 in order to secure their rappelling spot. Incentives for reaching higher fundraising milestones will be offered, too. Corporate team and sponsorship entries are also available.
As of September 1, nearly $160,000 has been raised or 80 percent of the $200,000 goal.

Next up, OSOT-America is joining forces to host the 2019 Field of Honor, Nov. 1-11, along the Naperville Riverwalk. An exhibit at Over the Edge promotes that Rotary Hill will be graced with 2019 American flags to help honor all Veterans, as well as commemorate the end of World War I in 1919 and the beginning of the American Legion.
Original Post, May 21, 2019 / From 11AM to 1PM on Wed., May 22, Operation Support Our Troops-America is hosting a kick-off event to officially launch a brand new fundraiser, “Over The Edge, at Hotel Arista in CityGate Centre. Hotel Arista is located at 2139 CityGate Lane.
This luncheon event, free of charge, will allow individuals to sign up and begin building an online campaign to raise funds for Operation Support Our Troops-America. When an individual raises $1,000, he or she will get to rappel off of the Hotel Arista on Sat., Sept. 14, 2019, organizers said.
Speakers at the official launch on May 22 will include John P. Calamos, Sr., founder and co-CIO of Calamos Investments, and owner of Hotel Arista at CityGate; Mayor Steve Chirico; sponsors and OSOT-America’s Executive Director Bill Rickert.
Calamos, who flew more than 900 combat hours during his service with the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, will offer a veteran-owned business perspective on the importance of supporting efforts such as OSOT-America.
“Over the Edge is an exciting and innovative way to come together as a community, bring awareness to our mission and raise funds to continue to support those who sacrifice so much for our freedom,” said Rickert. “On September 14, Operation Support Our Troops-America, will bring this exciting event to the Hotel Arista in Naperville. Partnering with Over the Edge Global, OSOT-America and its participants will be rappelling down the side of the hotel to raise funds and awareness for our mission.”

The luncheon kickoff on Wed., May 22 will officially launch fundraising for a unique event on Sat., Sept. 14, held in cooperation with Over the Edge. Individuals who raise a minimum of $1,000 will have an opportunity to rappel down the side of Calamos-owned Hotel Arista, the tallest building in Naperville. The group’s goal is to raise $200,000.
