5th Annual Judd-A-Thon attracts folks to raise funds for VFW National Home for Children

-

Above / Mike McGrath, Vice President of the VFW/National Home for Children Board of Trustees, gets into the act, grateful when the Judd-A-Thon produces a little green for the needs of children and the organization he serves. In fact, during this year’s festivities, McGrath won first place in the 5th Annual Judd-A-Thon Costume Contest. Sláinte!

Race organizer and VFW Commander Pablo Araya presented medals to the winners, grateful for all generous sponsorships, including Armanino and Humana, and spirited folks who participate in the grueling one-minute endurance test. Araya urged every participant to share news about the National Home for Children and to help attract sponsors for the 6th Annual Judd-A-Thon same time next year. (PN Photo)
When Mike McGrath accepted his medal for the “best costume” he no longer was wearing, he, too, expressed gratitude for everyone’s support of the National Home in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. (PN Photo)

Jim Hoch of James Hoch Photography is sharing his photos from the 5th Annual Judd-A-Thon held early on Sept. 16.

“Another successful, and fantastic Judd-A-Thon today!” said Hoch. “The exercise routine was just what the doctor ordered, the flyover (from a Lima Lima team member) was a special treat, and hearing Lee (Lindberg) belt out the National Anthem was fantastic!”

Hoch welcomes folks to download, share, and forward on his photos to anyone else who would like to see them.

“The first five items in the gallery are little video clips,” noted Hoch. “You gotta watch ’em!”

All proceeds benefit VFW/National Home

Every penny collected from Judd-A-Thon sponsors goes directly to the VFW National Home for Children, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, to assist the nation’s military and veteran families during difficult times.

Founded in 1925, the VFW National Home for Children serves as a place “where the families left behind by war — mothers and children, brothers and sisters — could remain together, keeping the family circle intact even when their serviceman didn’t come home.”

Mindful that today’s military families face different challenges, the services of the National Home continually have evolved to meet those changing needs.

According to McGrath, a group from the Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873 is headed to Michigan next weekend for its annual visit at the National Home for Children.
