Naperville resident Jack Persin, past-president of Naperville Responds for Veterans, is one of ten finalist for the 2018 Good Neighbor Awards presented by the National Association of Realtors.
This award honors Realtors who have made a positive impact in their communities through extraordinary volunteer service.
Persin has actively been involved with Naperville Responds for Veterans since its inception in 2009. Naperville Responds assists low and moderate-income veterans and their families with renovations and construction related issues. The nonprofit has helped nearly 200 veterans by making much-needed repairs, replacing aging systems and adding retrofits like wheelchair ramps to accommodate disabilities.
This year marks the 19th year the Good Neighbor Awards program. The Realtors being honored have donated their time, money and passion to enrich the lives of the people in their communities.
“This year’s ten Good Neighbor finalists have raised the bar in building stronger communities at home and around the globe,” said NAR President Elizabeth Mendenhall, a sixth-generation Realtor from Columbia, Missouri. “They inspire and remind all of us about the true meaning of giving back and we are proud of these Realtors for dedicating hundreds of hours of their personal time to these important causes.”
On October 2, five winners will be named from among the ten finalists. Winners will receive a $10,000 grant for their efforts respective organization. The remaining five finalists will also receive a $2,500 grant in recognition of their work.
The public is invited to vote for their favorites of the ten finalists. The top three vote getters will win bonus grants of $2,500, $1,250 and $1,250, respectively, for their nonprofits. Cast your vote at realtor.com/goodneighbor by September 28.
