Dollar Up – Hunger Down

What can a single dollar do?

At Loaves & Fishes, a dollar can accomplish a whole lot. Through our partnerships, it can purchase more than $8 worth of healthy food for our hungry neighbors. Most people wouldn’t miss just one dollar, but oh, how valuable it is to us. September is Hunger Action Month and we’re asking you to participate in Dollar Up – Hunger Down at area restaurants. When you dine at participating restaurants, they’ll have a container ready for you to contribute a dollar if you choose. It may not seem like much, but those dollars add up to giant impact for struggling families. All of us together make a significant difference.

To find out which restaurants are joining the effort to bring hunger levels down, visit DineNaperville.com.

Hunger Action Month, an initiative of Feeding America, is observed across the nation during this time. It brings awareness to the challenge many people face trying to provide food for their families. Last year at Loaves & Fishes, more than 18,600 people were served. That number includes over 7,600 children and 1,200 seniors. More than 49,000 child nutrition packs with milk, eggs, and fresh fruit were distributed. Loaves & Fishes is committed to providing healthy food such as fruits and fresh vegetables, and items with less sodium, sugar, and fat.

Sponsored by Dine Naperville, Dollar Up – Hunger Down is helping us provide that nutritious food. The Naperville restaurant community has been a long-time valued partner of Loaves & Fishes. Our shared interest in food brought us together, and our shared commitment to ending hunger is reflected in Dollar Up – Hunger Down. One dollar at a time adds up to a whole lot of change!
