UPDATE / Weather forecasts list severe thunderstorm warnings until 2:30PM and to expect occasional thunderstorms to end by 6:30PM. Ribfest again is closed, ready to open when officials think it’s safe.
Ribfest organizers say fireworks are scheduled at 10PM after Pitbull performs on the Main Stage in the South Park. Pitbull’s concert is scheduled to begin at 8:30PM, weather permitting.
Here’s the July 5th shuttle schedule: http://www.ribfest.net/2018-shuttle-map/ . Same general admission as Independence Day. South Park free admission after 5PM; veterans free admission to South Park all day; kids 11 and under are free admission to South Park.
Earlier Post / Local safety officials canceled the fireworks at Naperville’s Ribfest on Wednesday, July 4, due to inclement weather and lightning. Many fireworks celebrations were canceled across the region.
The fireworks have tentatively been rescheduled for 10PM or directly following Pitbull on Thursday, July 5, at Knoch Park. Gates open at noon and close at 10PM, immediately following the fireworks. The South Park will have free admission after 5PM.
Ribfest was evacuated twice on the Fourth of July due to incoming storm cells as attendees took shelter at Naperville Central High School. The Festival was evacuated and closed for the evening around 9PM when lightning began to illuminate the skies.
