On Saturday, June 30, 2018 at approximately 10:22PM, the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to 75th Street and Modaff Road for a vehicle crash involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 25-year-old Christopher Vandervalk of Lisle and a Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 30-year-old woman from Naperville.
The initial investigation indicates that Vandervalk was traveling eastbound on 75th Street approaching Modaff Road when he entered the intersection on a red light, striking the Volkswagen, which was turning left onto southbound Modaff Road from westbound 75th Street.
Vandervalk and his passenger, a 24-year-old female out of Darien, were transported from the scene with serious injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the accident. During the course of the initial investigation, a portion of the intersection of 75th Street and Modaff Road was closed and rerouted until approximately 4AM.
Vandervalk was issued one citation for disobeying a traffic control signal.
