DuPage County Report
In an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle and clean environment, DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, county employees and several community bicycle enthusiasts rode their bikes to work Tuesday in honor of Bike to Work Week.
“Today we celebrate the abundant green spaces and more than 500 miles of trails in DuPage County. We know that the number of residents who cycle is growing, so our Bike to Work Week draws attention to the benefits of riding, walking, running and enjoying our paths, recognizing what a positive impact they have on our quality of life,” Cronin said.
DuPage County officials and staff, members of the Active Transportation Alliance, Elmhurst Bicycle Club, Ride Illinois, Spin Doctors and others biked from Elmhurst to the DuPage County Government Complex in Wheaton.
Including portions of the Illinois Prairie Path and the Great Western Trail, DuPage County boasts more than 500 miles of trails, paths and lanes suitable for bicycle travel. The county website features a trails app that allows bicyclists to map the safest route between two destinations, find restrooms and discover new amenities along the trails at www.dupageco.org/bikeways.
