Summer Season
Sprawled across 13-acres, Naper Settlement opens for its summer season beginning thru October 31. Visitors can explore the museum’s beautiful grounds and 30 historic buildings with costumed interpreters. Naper Settlement will be open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10AM to 4PM, Sundays from 1 to 4PM and will be closed on Mondays. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for youth. The museum is free for members.
Wednesday Walking Club
Get fit the old-fashioned way! When it comes to outdoor activity, there is no better way than an active stroll around the beautiful 13-acre museum campus. Check in at the Pre-Emption House Visitor Center, then log your minutes (not miles). No registration is required. Earn reward tickets to Naper Settlement programs and events. Wednesday Walking Club takes place on Wednesdays beginning April 4 to October 31 from 8 to 9AM. Admission is free for all ages. Before 8AM, parking is available in Hotel Indigo’s parking lot located at 120 Water Street.
Weed Ladies Spring & Summer Sale
The spring and summer sale features beautiful silk and dried floral arrangements perfect for the upcoming seasons. The Weed Ladies Spring & Summer Sale will take place April 5 to 7 from 10AM to 4PM and April 8 from 1 to 4PM in the Daniels House at Naper Settlement. Admission is free to the sale. History Speaks Lecture Series: Mexican-American Boxcar Communities in Chicago and the Midwest
Chicago’s pivotal role as railroad capitol of the U.S. is well known, however the history of Mexicans who worked for Chicago area railroads and lived in railroad boxcars is largely unknown. Dr. Antonio Delgado, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in Urban Planning/Public Policy Analysis, will explore these missing pages of American History that exemplifies the contributions of Mexicans to the development of Chicago and the Midwest. This History Speaks Lecture Series will take place on April 8 from 4 to 5PM in Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel. Admission for non-members is $10 for adults, $9 for youth and students. Admission for members is $8 for adults and $7 for youth and students. Registration is recommended.
Naperville Plays
Families will quadruple their fun at Naper Settlement with activities, crafts, and storytelling, on the theme of “five senses”. Naperville Plays is provided in partnership with the DuPage Children’s Museum, Naper Settlement, Knoch Knolls Nature Center and the Naperville Public Library. This event will take place April 15 from 1 to 4PM. The fee is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $8 for youth (ages 4-12). Naper Settlement and DuPage Children’s Museum members receive free admission.
History Speaks Lecture Series: Rachel Carson: The Woman Who Launched the Environmental Movement
Biologist and author Rachel Carlson warned the world of the potentially dire environmental impact of chemical and pesticides in her bestselling 1962 book, Silent Spring. In this living history program set in 1963, actress and historian Leslie Goddard will portray Carson as she discusses her childhood love for the living world, her passion for writing, and her work to awaken the world to the beauty and fragility of nature. This History Speaks Lecture Series will take place on April 22 from 4 to 5PM in Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel. Admission for non-members is $10 for adults, $9 for youth and students. Admission for members is $8 for adults and $7 for youth and students. Registration is recommended.
