NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Naperville Fire Department is asking residents to give a very precious gift to someone this holiday season by donating blood at the Everyday Hero Holiday Blood Drive on Thurs., Dec. 28.

Every donation helps save three lives, and as the number of blood donations traditionally drops between Thanksgiving and the New Year, the Naperville Fire Department is doing its part to ensure that area hospitals have an adequate supply on hand.

“Donating blood is a relatively simple act that can have a substantial impact,” said Bureau Chief Tom Moran. “We encourage everyone who can donate to make an appointment. They could literally be giving the gift of life to someone this holiday season.”

Give blood, receive an Ugly Sweater t-shirt

The Everyday Hero Holiday Blood Drive will be held from 8AM to 2PM on Thurs., Dec. 28, at Safety Town, 1320 Aurora Avenue. All participating donors will receive an Ugly Sweater T-shirt (while supplies last) and a voucher for a free large one topping pizza from Papa John’s.

Appointments are recommended and can be made by calling (877) 543-3768 or by visiting www.lifesource.org. Just select “Make an Appointment,” log in and search by Group Code 360G.

Walk-ins are also welcome.

Participants are required to present an ID to donate blood.
