Illinois Emergency Management Agency reported one victim was killed on Feb. 28, 2017, by an uprooted tree. Other people were injured, roofs blew off buildings and other properties were damaged by the storm. A tornado hit the LaSalle County Nursing Home in Ottawa.

To assist in a statewide call for help, more than two dozen members of the DuPage County Public Works, Stormwater Management and Transportation departments traveled to LaSalle County to assist with tornado damage cleanup this week.

Ottawa and nearby communities were hit by four tornadoes during storms that swept through the Illinois last week.

FYI: According to the National Weather Service on March 8, 2017, Naperville is experiencing “strong gusty westerly winds” lasting through late in the afternoon…with winds 30 to 40 mph and gusts around 60 mph.  Expect tree and limb damage and power poles that may come down. Be prepared.
