At approximately 1AM on Jan. 21, 2017, Naperville Police Officers responded to Bar Louie, 22 East Chicago Avenue, to assist in dispersing a crowd that was gathering inside of the establishment.
Upon arrival, officers noticed a crowd gathering near the entrance to the bar. A subject, later identified as Timothy Caldwell, was engaged in a verbal altercation with Bar Louie staff and was told to leave the premises.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Caldwell did not pay his bill and was taken into custody for said offense, as well as battering one of the bouncers.
Remaining patrons were advised to disperse by Bar Louie staff and police. Despite efforts to get another subject, later identified as Kevin R. Bryant, to disperse; he refused and was taken into custody (charges detailed below). Subsequently, a subject, later identified as Tawana L. Hosey, threw a beer bottle at a Naperville Police Sergeant, causing him to be injured.
Hosey was then taken into custody (see charges below).
Due to the size of the crowd that was gathering, approximately 100 individuals, Naperville Police requested mutual aid from neighboring agencies.
Officers from the Aurora Police Department, DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and Lisle Police Department responded and assisted with dispersing of the crowd.
