Edward Foundation awards 23 nursing scholarships to Edward Hospital employees

Above / The Edward Foundation recently awarded $62,000 in nursing scholarships to 23 Edward Hospital employees, including two $10,000 Peter Veit Nursing Scholarships, a $2,000 Agnes A. Book Memorial Nursing Scholarship and 20 $2,000 scholarships from the Foundation. 

The Edward Foundation has awarded $62,000 in nursing scholarships to 23 Edward Hospital employees who are pursuing a degree or advanced degree in nursing.

The employees were recognized at a luncheon hosted by Meghan Moreno, Executive Director, Edward Foundation; Scott Berger, MD, Edward Foundation Board Chairman; and Patti Ludwig-Beymer, PhD, RN, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Edward Hospital.

Peter Veit Scholarships awarded to Diane Patino and Kerri-Ann Thornton

The Foundation awarded $10,000 Peter Veit Scholarships to Diane Patino, a registered nurse (RN) in Edward’s Ambulatory Surgical Care Center; and Kerri-Ann Thornton, RN, Clinical Resource Team.

Veit, who passed away in 2014 at age 86, created the scholarship fund in his name with a $120,000 gift to the Foundation following the care he received from the Edward nursing staff.

Agnes A Book Memorial Nursing Scholarship awarded to Marylou Einbecker

A $2,000 Agnes A. Book Memorial Nursing Scholarship was awarded to Marylou Einbecker, RN, a nurse in Edward’s Surgery Department. The annual scholarship comes from a fund established by the Book family in memory of their mother, who was a nurse at Edward for more than 20 years.

  • Amy Granato, RN, Endoscopy
  • Bridget Hlad, RN, Labor & Delivery
  • Juliette Jaderberg, RN, Medical Surgical
  • Courtney Kornsey, RN, Nursing Administration
  • Julia Manikatova, RN, Surgical Care Unit
  • Marissa Marshall, RN, Cardiovascular Surgery
  • Siobhan McNamara-Gayduk, Respiratory Therapy
  • Vanessa Paprockas, RN, Emergency Dept.
  • Korrine Potter, RN, Emergency Dept.
  • Roji Puthenthara Ouseph, RN, Cardiac Catheterization Lab
  • Kristin Riek Bucek, RN, Labor & Delivery
  • Laurann Stevens, RN, Cardiac Telemetry Unit 8
  • Loree Thompson, RN, Cardiac/Neuro ICU
  • Maya Yoder, PCT, Medical Oncology
