Above/ Located at 34 S. Washington Street in the heart of Naperville, the cornerstone was laid in the Kroehler YMCA on Memorial Day 1910. The formal dedication of the three-story brick building took place on March 26, 1911, and the Y has been open daily ever since.
The Naperville YMCAs have named Miranda Barfuss as their new Development Director overseeing the Y’s fundraising and community development efforts in Naperville.
For the past 2 years Miranda has served as the Director of Annual Giving and Special Events Manager for Loaves and Fishes in Naperville. Prior to this role, she was the Director of Development for TriCity Family Services in Geneva, IL serving TriCity for more than 8 years. Her experience also includes work with the College of Dupage Foundation, Deborah’s Place in Chicago and 6 summers as a resident camp counselor at YMCA Camp Maclean. Miranda is a Certified Fundraising Executive and a graduate of North Central College.
“We look forward to taking advantage of Miranda’s skills and experience to further extend our outreach to local residents and the corporate community to ensure that everyone understands that as a non-profit community organization, the Y plays a critical role in ensuring that young people from pre-school through college have opportunities to grow, learn, develop and lead regardless of their ability to pay,” said RJ Bartels, Executive Director.
“From pre-school and before- and after-school care to leadership and employment opportunities for young adults, the Naperville YMCAs are there for families throughout the community,” Bartels added. “We are confident Miranda will add a lot to the conversation.”
With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Naperville YMCAs provide more than $400,000 annually in fee assistance so that no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay.
