The Positivity IMPACT on fitness goals

-

The New Year brings with it the usual expectations of setting goals and for most of us improving something in health and fitness is predominantly on that list. Whatever your goals may be, the sky’s not the limit. Your mind is.

The self talk of the human mind shows up in many ways that we may not even be aware of. Negative mindsets can wreck even the staunchest of plans, so learning how you talk to and about yourself could be the key to your greatest physical achievement yet.

When you look in the mirror, what is the first thought you have looking at yourself? Right there is the first typical example of a harmful experience that transitions into verbal linguistics; the subconscious mind has already decided you have failed at something relating to that thought. Positive linguistic intervention can change how we think by ‘reframing’ that experience. Ask yourself a question from there that can build a detailed positive future and visualize this happening now. If you look in the mirror and think that you “need to lose weight”, that is already pessimistic. Lose is powerful negative language. Becoming aware of the thought and consciously shifting it to affirmative alternative will set you up for success rather than an assumptive failure. You can change that thought to “I look good at ___ (goal weight). I feel great, and have the energy I need.” Allow yourself permission to get started without having already lost a battle!

Optimistic non ego-centered messages we send to ourselves in give us permission to be happy a thousand times a day. Your first step is recognition. Then you can catch yourself doing something right You can look good, feel great and be healthy- if you tell yourself you can.
