50 Student Robotics Teams to Compete in Regional Tournament Jan. 16

-

Neuqua-Valley-Logo_600More than 50 middle school and high school robotics teams from the greater Chicago region will compete in the Third Annual WiredCats VEX Robotics Tournament scheduled for Sat., January 16, at Neuqua Valley High School. Matches will start at 10:20AM and the tournament will conclude with an awards ceremony that follows elimination matches scheduled to begin at 4:45PM.

The non-stop, action-packed day features teams who will battle one another using student-built robots in a game called Nothing But Net. The game is played by scoring colored balls in high and low goals and by elevating robots in a designated climbing zone.

The VEX Robotics competition season culminates each spring, with top performing teams advancing through local, state and world competitions that will feature top-ranked teams from 30 different countries.

This is the third year the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) has sponsored this tournament. Through corporate partnerships and donations, the IPEF has raised more $115,000 over the past two years to expand the number of robotics programs available for District 204 students.

Local media will have the opportunity to interview students, event organizers and local sponsors throughout the tournament. Photos opportunities of student-built VEX robots and teams interacting with their custom robots will be available.
