Setting the Stage For Last Fling

-

Friday and Saturday Night Main Stage Entertainment is Set

Friday, September 4

Lita Ford and Jack Russell’s Great White, along with Bad Medicine will perform at the Jaycees Last Fling Friday, Sept. 4.

A British born rocker who grew up on the streets of L.A., Lita Ford is considered one of the most important female representatives of the rock genre. She is one of the founding members of The Runaways, one of the first girl groups who unexpectedly broke down barriers in the punk era as well as the male-dominated world of rock music, causing a stir with their six rebellious releases. Following the demise of the Runaways, Ford concentrated on her own career and now looks back on many memorable hits including: the chart topping duet with Ozzy Osbourne “Close Your Eyes Forever,” “What Do You Know About Love,” “Shot of Poison,” “Larger Than Life” and “Kiss Me Deadly.”

In 1982, Great White was co-founded by Jack Russell and the band recorded and released a 5-song EP, Out of the Night. Great White hit the mainstream in 1987 with the release of Once Bitten…, which featured the hits “Rock Me” and “Save Your Love.” They followed up with …Twice Shy in 1989. This album included the band’s biggest hit, “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.” Following this success, Great White received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance. “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” was certified platinum in July 1989 and double platinum in September of that same year. In 2011, Russell and Mark Kendal split and Russell formed “Jack Russell’s Great White.” The standing members of Great White reached an agreement that Russell would continue with his own version of the band.

Bad Medicine was formed and led by life-long Bon Jovi fan, Joe Frasca, back in February 2001. Through the years, the talented collection of musicians has proven time and time again that Bad Medicine is truly the “next best thing.” In recent years, Bad Medicine has added several “non-Jovi” songs from the same genre but remain Chicagoland’s favorite band for Bon Jovi.

Ford will perform on the Last Fling Main Stage, located at the base of Rotary Hill near Naperville’s famed Riverwalk at 8:30PM on Friday, Sept. 4. Jack Russell’s Great White will perform at 7PM. Bad Medicine will perform at 5:30PM.

General Admission Main Stage tickets are on sale now through September 3 for $10, then on September 4 for $15. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.LastFling.org.

Saturday, September 5

Ed Kowalczyk, former lead singer of LIVE, and blues phenom Matthew Curry will play at the Main Stage before Grammy Award winner Daughtry.

Kowalczyk, a songwriter and former lead singer of LIVE, opened a new chapter in his already illustrious career in 2009 with the launch of his solo career. With over 20 million albums sold worldwide, he has built an impressive resume in LIVE that includes eight full-length albums that have reached gold and platinum status in nine countries and nine Top 10 hit songs, which include the crossover smash “Grace” from his debut solo album and classics such as “Lightning Crashes,” “I Alone,” “Selling The Drama,” “The Dolphin’s Cry” and “Heaven.”

Hailing from Normal, Ill., 19-year-old Curry has been capturing the attention of established acts and fans across the country as he’s toured with Steve Miller Band and now Doobie Brothers and Peter Frampton.

Daughtry, formed and fronted by Chris Daughtry, a finalist on the fifth season of American Idol, released their first album in 2006. This self-titled volume of work went on to be certified quadruple platinum, named the best selling album of 2007 with four Top 20 hits including “It’s Not Over” and “Home” and became the fastest selling debut rock album in Nielsen Soundscan history.

Daughtry will headline at 8PM, with Ed Kowalczyk performing at 6PM and Matthew Curry opening at 4PM on the Last Fling Main Stage, on Saturday, Sept. 5.

General Admission Main Stage tickets will be on sale thru September 4 for $30 and on Sept. 5 for $35 each. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.LastFling.org.
