Phil Maughan, who served honorably in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne in South Vietnam, is preparing for his installation as the Commander of the Department of Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars at the 94th Annual Illinois State Convention on June 13.
In 1989, the dedicated and decorated veteran joined the Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873 where he is a Legacy Life Member. He has been an elected or appointed post officer since the first meeting he attended. Currently, Maughan serves as All American Post Quartermaster and has previously served in many other offices to include twice serving as post Commander earning All-State honors both times. He’s also a member of the American Legion Post 43.
A year ago, Maughan was elected to the high office of State Senior Vice Commander.
Retired from the Northern Trust Company as CFO of its Operations and Technology group, Maughan and his wife, Marcy, live in Naperville. They have three children and 10 grandchildren.
