2014-15 Positively Naperville All-Area Basketball Teams

-

First Team

Neuqua Valley senior guard Demond George (10.97 points, 2.72 rebounds, 4.28 assists and 2.59 steals)

An All-Upstate Eight Valley selection, George was multi-dimensional threat at point guard for Neuqua Valley, leading in assists and steals.

Neuqua Valley senior guard Connor Raridon (15.5 points, 6.66 rebounds and 2.22 assists and .91 steals)

Committed to North Central College and the 2014-15 Upstate Eight Valley Player of the Year, Raridon led a 27-win Neuqua Valley team in scoring and rebounding.

Benet senior forward Colin Bonnett (17 points, four rebounds and 4.2 assists)

An All-East Suburban Catholic Conference selection, Bonnett led the way for Benet, which won 22 games in 2014-15 to become the sixth straight Gene Heidkamp-led team to win at least 20 games.

Naperville North senior forward Baylor Griffin (12 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 steals and .4 blocks)

An All-DuPage Valley Conference selection, Griffin led the Huskies in both points and rebounds as they won 16 games this season.

Metea Valley senior center Mark Konkle (13.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, one assist and .61 steals)

An All-Upstate Eight Valley selection and headed to Hillsdale College in Michigan for football, Konkle led the 18-win Mustangs in points and rebounds as they won 10 of their last 11 games to get the second regional title in program history.

Second Team

Benet junior guard Danny Sobolewski (12 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.57 steals)

An All-East Suburban Catholic Conference selection as a junior, Sobolewski provided a nice sidekick to Bonnett as the two biggest holdovers of the 2014 Class 4A runner-ups as Benet went 22-8 and finished second in the ESCC this year.

Naperville Central junior guard Matthew Meier (11.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists)

An All-DuPage Valley Conference selection as a junior, Meier helped lead the Redhawks throughout an up-and-down 15-14 season with the help of senior guard Nate Dahl as the backcourt duo were Naperville Central’s two leading scorers.

Metea Valley senior guard Nick Dodson (6.8 points, 3.42 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.13 steals)

An All-Upstate Eight Valley Honorable Mention selection and ticketed to Grand Valley State as a wide receiver, Dodson earned his keep for Metea Valley more on the defensive end. He epitomized the Mustangs’ turnaround late in the year as they won 10 straight games en route to winning a regional title before losing to Hinsdale Central in a Class 4A East Aurora Sectional Semifinal.

Waubonsie Valley senior forward Chris Karkazis (12.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and .64 steals)

An All-Upstate Eight Valley selection, Karkazis led the Warriors in scoring and assists while acting as a leader for a young Waubonsie Valley team in Chaz Taft’s second year.

Neuqua Valley senior Zac Lendino (7.84 points, 4.13 rebounds, 1.16 assists and .54 steals)

An All-Upstate Eight Valley Honorable Mention selection, Lendino was considered an “unsung hero” to Neuqua Valley coach Todd Sutton throughout the year as he helped give a 27-win Neuqua Valley team a post presence and a factor on the glass despite his size at 6-foot-2.
