I recently spoke with a homeowners association board member who questioned why the City did not reach out to her association to discuss work being planned in the neighborhood. She did not realize that the city has no way to track or communicate with HOA’s, and that they count on the Confederation to maintain a secure and confidential directory of neighborhood associations and to help provide contact information and outreach when required.
With a new year (and mailing of annual membership invoices) coming up, I thought I would share four more really good reasons why your Association should be part of the NAHC:
1. Our monthly meetings provide a wealth of information on a variety of topics and an opportunity to network with key decision makers in the community.
2. Our Candidate Forums provide an opportunity to hear from the people who want our votes. We are nonpartisan and offer a level playing field for candidates to express their views and state their platforms in a structured televised public setting (and there are reruns of the forums in the days leading up to the elections for those needing further study to make up their minds).
3. When and as appropriate, we voice opinions on matters of importance to homeowners and taxpayers —this provides a strong voice for our community.
4. For $30 a year – we are a real bargain!
Join us on January 17 when area state legislators join us in Meeting Rooms B&C of the Naperville Municipal Center for a look at what can be expected from Springfield in 2015 (check www.napervillehomeowners.com for more details). Coffee and networking, sponsored by the Golf Programs at the Naperville Park District, begins at 8AM. Hope to see you on the 17 as we tee things up for another year!
