And away we go!

-

NAHC Camera Ready LogoNot that many years ago, a combination of the recession and a perceived lack of buildable land after Naperville’s rapid growth during the 80’s and 90’s, led some to believe that new development in our town was coming to an end. The annual bus tour co-sponsored by the City of Naperville and the Homeowners Confederation showcasing new developments was cancelled due to budget cuts and a lack of new things to see.

While costs still preclude actually getting on a bus, the NAHC’s December meeting will be highlighted by a tour of our town focusing on what is new, different and of interest. Tour guides Christine Jeffries of the Naperville Development Partnership and Ray McGury of the Naperville Park District will join me as I drive the Confederation’s “virtual bus” around town to check out what has recently been completed, is in progress, and is on the drawing board.

Working with Bill Novack, Naperville’s Director of Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED), we have developed an extensive list of construction projects happening around town. Ray McGury will focus on what the Park District has in store while Christine Jeffries will look at new commercial projects that will add jobs, amenities and new tax dollars to the community.

While we will not actually be getting on the bus, our slide show will provide everyone with a great window on new businesses and developments coming to Naperville. Plus, there is no need to brave traffic or the weather.

Join us on December 13 at the Naperville Park District’s new Knoch Knolls Nature Center where coffee and networking, sponsored by the Downtown Naperville Alliance begins at 8AM.

In the words of Jackie Gleason who portrayed Ralph Kramden, classic TV’s favorite bus driver, “…and away we go!” Hope to see you on the 13th!
