Oct. 10, Music: NCC presents “An Evening with Jazz Trombonist Joel Adams” with supporting North Central jazz faculty artists at 8PM Fri., Oct. 10, in the College’s Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $20/adults and $15/students and seniors..

Oct. 11, Music: The DuPage Symphony Orchestra opens its 2014-2015 season in a concert featuring Concert Artists Guild Winner pianist Ko-Eun Yi in a concert titled “The Cradle of Civilization” at 8PM Sat., Oct. 11, in NCC’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $35 and $30/adults, $31 and $26 seniors, and $17 and $12/students.

Oct. 13, Visit Day: High school students and their parents or guardians are invited to attend NCC’s Visit Day on Mon., Oct. 13. Registration begins at 9:30AM in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby, 171 E. Chicago Ave., and concludes with lunch at 12:30PM. High-achieving students are invited to an optional session at 9AM. Visitors can take a walking tour and attend informative sessions on financial aid, academic highlights and student life. Oct. 15-16, 18-19, Theatre: NCC presents William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” guest directed by Kathryn Walsh at 7:30PM Oct. 15, 16 and 18 and at 2PM Oct. 19 in the College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Tickets are $10/adults and $8/students and seniors.

Oct. 16, Music: NCC presents in concert the Best of Jethro Tull with Ian Anderson plus his new album “Homo Erracticus” at 8PM Thurs., Oct. 16, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Tickets are $95, $85 and $75.

Oct. 17, High school football: NCC hosts the annual Prairie Classic crosstown football matchup between Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley high schools of Indian Prairie School District 204. Kickoff is at 7:30PM Fri., Oct. 17, in the College’s Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. For ticket info, contact the high schools.

Oct. 17, Music: North Central College’s annual Homecoming Kickoff Concert opens the concert season for the College’s Cardinal Chorus, Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorale, Concert Choir, Concert Winds and Jazz Combo I. The free concert will be held at 8PM Fri., Oct. 17, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

Oct. 18, Cardinal football: The NCC Cardinals will play their Homecoming conference football game vs. Carthage College at 2PM Sat., Oct. 18, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. Tickets are $6/adults and free to students with a valid ID and to children ages 3 and under. For more info, visit northcentralcardinals.com/football.

Oct. 20-26, Free speech exhibit: Faculty and students in NCC’s speech communication department will host a weeklong display, Oct. 20-26, to celebrate National Freedom of Speech Week. The community is invited to visit the free exhibit and view, read and listen to various items on display in the Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. Oct. 27-Dec. 11, Art exhibit: NCC presents an art exhibit titled “Another Light” by Darlene Poloniak and Jan Wessels. The exhibit uses infrared light to portray the power and richness of the inner life. “Another Light” is free and open to the public Oct. 27-Dec. 11 in the College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St. Call 630.637.5543 for gallery hours.

Oct. 30-Nov. 1, Theatre: NCC presents a student directed show, “Cynics,” at 7:30PM Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1 in the College’s Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Written and directed by student Emma Smith, the dark comedy explores the role of depression in a college student’s life. Tickets are $5/adults and $3/students and seniors.
