Naperville Independent Film Festival / TheĀ 6th Annual Naperville Independent Film Festival will continue to be shown at theater venues throughout the weekend.

Friday schedule at Classic Cinemas Ogden 6 Theater

  • 7PM / The Illinois Premiere of “It’s Not You, It’s Me” will be screened at the Classic Cinemas Ogden 6 Theater. Director, Nathan Ives andĀ Lead Actor, Ross McCall, from California, will be at the screening and available for a Q&A after the film. “It’s Not You, It’s Me” is a 2013 Official Nominee atĀ the Naperville Independent Film Festival for Best Director, Best Feature Film, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
  • 8:45PM / The Illinois Premiere of “Go Ganges”, a Documentary by J.J. Kelley and Josh Thomas will be shown.
  • 10:25PM / The Illinois Premiere of “Axe Giant” by Gary Jones, will be screened. Director, Gary Jones, from Ohio, and Lead Actor, Chris Hahn, will be atĀ the screening and available for Q&A after the film.

NIFF showcases indie films in the following categories: Short, Student Produced Films, Feature Films, Animation, Documentaries, Music Video and Screenplays.Ā Awards Ceremony Gala at Center Stage on 6PM Sat., Sept. 21Ā Selected from a group of 46 nominees, NIFF trophies will be awarded to a winner in each of 12 categories. Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation September Meeting / 8 ā€“ 10AM / The first NAHC Monthly meetings of the new program year begins on Saturday morning, September 21 at 8 AM (for coffee and networking) in meeting rooms B&C of the Naperville Municipal Center. Gina Herrmann, Director of Career203, and Dan Bridges, Superintendent of School District 203, will speak about Career203, the Districtā€™s innovative new program for teacher compensation and professional development.

Caseyā€™s Foods fires up the Grill / 11AM ā€“ 2PM / This weekendā€™s meal deal at Caseyā€™s grill: Italian Beef sandwiches w/ the option of extra juice and hot peppers/giardiniera, $5. Served Saturday and Sunday. Caseyā€™s is located at Naperville Plaza, Washington and Gartner.

powHarvest Pow Wow at Naper Settlement / 11AM ā€“ 10PM / Celebrate Native American heritage with dancing, cultural demonstrations, childrenā€™s games and crafts, special presentations and more from 11AM to 10PM Saturday, Sept. 21 and from 11AM – 5PM Sunday, Sept. 22. Special guest is Robert Mirabal, a Pueblo musician and Native American flute player. Presented by the Midwest SOARRING Foundation. Kyraā€™s Idea, Angieā€™s Hope Fundraiser / 4 ā€“ 7PM / Bring the family and come out for a great party to help us ā€œStrike Out SMAā€! This yearā€™s event is a baseball themed pasta party to raise money to find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy at The Foundry, 85 Executive Drive in Aurora. Your ticket ($25) will include a pizza & pasta buffet, soft drinks, dancing, games, a silent auction and much more. Join Kyra, Angie and their friends and have a great time for a great cause! Ws_Irish_Sept2013_WebScottā€™s Walk at DuPage River Park / 8AM / Enjoy an early Sunday morning adventure through DuPage River Park, Royce Road and Washington, with family, friends and neighbors. Registration, $25 per person / $45 per family, begins at 8AM for the walk that steps off at 9AM. Scottā€™s Walk is conducted to raise awareness ofĀ testicular cancerĀ in young men and to support the research efforts of the St. Baldrickā€™s Foundation. The walk was started by the family of Scott Zager, and the West Suburban Irish are pleased to support their efforts. For everything you want to know about Scottā€™s Walk and other events planned by the West Suburban Irish, including the annual St. Patrickā€™s Day Parade, visitĀ www.wsirish.org. After Scottā€™s Ā Walk, a head-shaving event, also to benefit St. Baldrickā€™s Foundation, will be held at Quigleyā€™s Irish Pub beginning at 1PM, Sept. 22.

St. Baldrickā€™s Fundraiser at Quigleyā€™s / 1 ā€“ 4:30PM / Fundraiser to benefit St. Baldrickā€™s Foundation. Since 2005 St. Baldrickā€™s has funded over $120 Million in pediatric cancer research through grass roots fundraising events. Make a Wish Foundation 2013 Chili Kickoff Cookoff / 2 ā€“ 5:30PM / Many area restaurants and businesses will be participating in the Make a Wish Foundationā€™s 2013 Chili Kickoff Cookoff, including Bill Kreger of Kregerā€™s Brat & Sausage Haus, at Nevinā€™s Brewing Co. in Plainfield, 12337 South Route 59. Local celebrity judges will determine the winners.Ā  Live music and drink specials will be offered on Nevinā€™s patio.
