On Wed., May 15, 2024, just before 5PM, Naperville Police Officers observed Erskine Wheeler, a 44-year-old man from the 16000 block of Halsted Drive in Harvey, commit multiple traffic violations while driving a vehicle near the intersection of Diehl Road and Raymond Drive.
During the course of the traffic stop, police located .1 grams of alleged crack cocaine inside the vehicle and placed Wheeler under arrest.
Following the arrest, Wheeler was transported to the Naperville Detention Center, where during a search, 21.1 additional grams of alleged crack cocaine were located on his person.
Wheeler was charged with two petty traffic violations, Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class 1 felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, a class X felony.
The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
