Carrie Kupisch, seated, grandmother of organizer Blake Grigsby, had welcomed 36 volunteers by 11:15AM to sign up to help break a Guinness World Record.

Young wit Blake Grigsby is back in the news. This time the subject of many funny videos hopes to break records.

On Thurs., Aug. 8, the 19-year-old from Naperville plans to perform his magic by building the world’s largest cardboard box castle with more than 3,000 boxes.

Blake Grigsby, left, performed memorable magic on stage at The Wentz during a KidsMatter benefit in 2012.

The event will include a restaurant inside the castle (Serving pasta dinner/salad for $5 per person) and will conclude with a family-friendly improv show that evening.

Admission is free; however, donations will be accepted with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.

The Cardboard Box Castle will be constructed in the parking lot of Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville.  Construction of the castle will begin at 11AM.

A ribbon cutting with Mayor A. George Pradel is slated for 4:45PM. The improv show will be at 7:30PM.

Cardboard Box Castle is a public community affair that welcomes everyone to participate.

This event is an attempt to break the current cardboard castle record of 2,354 boxes (RecordSetter.com) and building it larger than 115 ft. x 75 ft.x 7 ft. (Guinness World Record). Grigsby has obtained a grant from the Chicago Awesome Foundation, which helped in the development of the project. International Paper has donated the majority of the boxes. He is also working with the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce and Neuqua Valley High School, two other organizations that have been instrumental in the project implementation.

Grigsby, now a college student at DePaul University, is a YouTube content creator, comedian and improviser, who is best known on YouTube for his Trust Fall Attack video. He has more than 12,000 subscribers and amassed a total of 2 million views on YouTube. Furthermore, Grigsby is collaborating with a variety of students, teams and organizations on this project to provide everyone with additional experiences in their future field of work.

Grigsby also was one of the comedic crowd-pleasing participants in KidsMatter’s Ignite the Nite performances on stage at the Wentz Concert Hall in 2012 and 2013.

Now he waits to be king of the biggest Cardboard Box Castle ever built. Will he make it?
