Original Post Feb. 19, 2013 / Ronald McDonald Family Room Community Council will host its first fundraising event, “Uncork Your Support” Wine Tasting, at 5:30PM, March 7 at LaSorella di Francesca in Naperville. Tickets to the inaugural event are already sold out and the community is rallying behind the special event designed to raise funds for families of children receiving care in the Pediatric Care Unit and Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Edward Hospital.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room in Edward Hospital opened in March of 2012 to provide care and comfort to families of pediatric patients. It provides a home-like atmosphere away from the stress of the hospital, just within the Pediatric Care Unit. The room gives families a moment to rest and rejuvenate so they can face the stress of their hospital visit. The Family Room includes a kitchenette, dining tables, television area, two computer stations, sitting area, a play room for patients and siblings, and two sleep rooms with private bathrooms.
All the proceeds of this event will further allow Ronald McDonald Family Room to provide a “home away from home” for the families of pediatric patients that will require the services of Edward Hospital throughout the year. In less than a year the Family Room has already served over 700 families.
