Update, Feb. 12, 2015 / Since 2010, PN has been taking photos after Napervillians have played in the snow. Folks along Raintree in the Countryside subdivision have built a snow heart for Valentine’s Day.
Thanks to Ron Keller for the tip on Thursday about this year’s snow story featured along 11th Street, just west of Columbia. After visiting the snow boat with snow fishermen and a snow whale on the line captured in this photo, other folks called with a heads up about the fun sculpture, too.
Update, Feb. 2, 2015 / We love to play in the snow! Apparently, Februarys in recent years presented the best snows for packing and building snow creatures.
In 2014, the creative folks on 11th Street added Olaf from “Frozen” to their annual series of snow creatures that appear when packing permits.
Remember this big snow creature along 11th Street back in its day at night?
Original Post / Back in 2012, we had some fun in West Wind when Bears were hot and it was cold and good for packers in Illinois.
During the snow season that started about this time in 2011 and kept the ground mostly covered with the frosty white stuff beyond Groundhog Day 2011, hundreds of snowmen and other snow creatures dotted the Naperville landscape.
From the Riverwalk Amphitheater to all points north, east, west and south, we discovered whimsy in all shapes and sizes as kids of all ages got rolling and packed snow into art and fortresses.
Whenever the snow is the wet, snowman-building variety; bundle up and enjoy the great outdoors.
PN likely will help you read all about it. Thanks for reading.
