NAPERVILLE, Ill. — On Sun., Feb. 25, 2018, at approximately 7:09PM, the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Fire Department responded to 87th Street and Modaff Road for a single vehicle crash involving a 2013 Mercedes Benz CLS63 driven by a Jason Schaus, 41, of Naperville. The initial investigation indicates that Mercedes Benz was westbound 87th from Modaff Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Schaus was transported to Edward Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the accident.
During the course of the initial investigation eastbound 87th Street between Modaff Road and Massachusetts Avenue were closed and rerouted until approximately 11PM.
The accident remains under investigation.
