Naperville Noon Lions provides grant for technology and job training

The Naperville Noon Lions Club recently presented an $8,000 grant to Donka, Inc. Donka, based in Wheaton, is a nonprofit organization that provides computer training and job readiness services to persons who are blind, have low vision or other physical disabilities. Leanne Vos, Executive Director of Donka, who accepted the grant, indicated that through use of computers and assistive technology individuals become more self-sufficient and independent members of the community. Donka currently serves individuals in the Naperville area as well as DuPage and Kane Counties.

Linda Strugalla, President of the Naperville Lions, stated that the Club is honored to have the opportunity of support this great organization. Many lives will be changed thanks to this donation she said.

The Naperville Noon Lions have supported the work of Donka for many years because of the help they provide to the community. In the past several years the Naperville Lions have donated over $40,000 to assist Donka in their efforts to assist blind and low vision individuals.

The Naperville Noon Lions Club, chartered in 1948, is a member club of Lions Clubs International. Lions Clubs International is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.4 million members and 44,000 individual Clubs worldwide.
