School’s in session… Embrace the educational journey for a lifetime

-

Above / As of Aug. 24, school is officially open in both school districts that serve the Naperville community and just beyond. Throughout the neighborhood streets, signs remind drivers to slow down, especially in school zones.

Today begins the school year in Indian Prairie School District 204.  Naperville Unit School Distrct 203 started a week ago. Posted here are the letters to the community from the superintendents.

Discover another year of learning for a lifetime!

Also learn public safety!  Plan extra time driving to and from school. Slow down and follow the lower speed limit in school zones. Remember, the speed limit throughout Naperville is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.

Dear District 204 Community,

The start of each new school year brings an incredible sense of excitement. I can’t wait to see our students enter their classrooms tomorrow, eager to begin this year’s educational journey.

The video below provides a glimpse of how our staff spent time this summer preparing for the school year. A big part of their work focused on how to improve teaching through using technology to enhance learning. You can search #FutureReady204 on Twitter to see how teachers are using new resources to best prepare students. Those resources include Chromebooks, which have been distributed to all our middle and high school students.

Of course, the biggest impact to student learning does not come from handing a student a computer. It comes from the meaningful connections our students make with teachers, coaches, and other staff members who serve as mentors in the classroom and throughout the countless extra-curricular activities our students pursue. This week I had the opportunity to talk with our staff as they prepared for the arrival of our students. I am confident they are excited to help our students achieve their greatest potential.

In addition to eager students and dedicated staff, I’m grateful for all the support we receive from our parents and community. Your support makes our work possible.

I look forward to all the amazing things our students will accomplish. Have a great year!

Karen Sullivan, Superintendent

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! The first day of school is one of my favorite days of the year. Each year brings new energy, excitement, and enthusiasm. Today, I had the pleasure of visiting each of our schools to celebrate the beginning of the school year. It was inspiring to see everyone so excited to begin a new year of learning. I look forward to visiting Ann Reid Early Childhood Center on their first day.

Once again I was joined by the president of the Board of Education and the president of the Naperville Unit Education Association. Our annual first-day journey together symbolizes the collective commitment we share to ensure that the Board, Administration, Faculty, and Staff work with you to ensure the best possible school experience for your child.

Please join me in celebrating everything that makes our students, staff, and community exemplary. Thank you for your continued support, inspiration, and commitment to education and our students. Click here to watch a kickoff video for the 2017-18 school year! #Inspire203

Looking forward to a great year,

Dan Bridges, Superintendent of Schools
