Actor and children’s author Craig Robinson will take Center Stage for Anderson’s Bookshop on April 19

-

It might surprise some viewers to know that Craig Robinson, otherwise known as Darryl Philbin from the fictitious Dunder-Mifflin Company on TV’s “The Office,” was a teacher in Chicago. An elementary school music teacher. After nine years on the Emmy Award-winning show, that part of his background comes in particularly handy because Robinson has launched a new project as a children’s author.

His new title, Jake the Fake Keeps it Real, will be the featured book at a special event Anderson’s Bookshop is presenting at Naperville’s Center Stage Theater, 1665 Quincy Ave, Suite 131. Robinson will discuss his new book and sign copies for fans following his presentation set for 7PM Wednesday, April 19.

Tickets are required for this event from Anderson’s Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville, (630) 355-2665 or from www.andersonsbookshop.com. One book purchase admits a family to this author program.

Jake the Fake Keeps It Real

For fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Big Nate comes a new side-splitting series from comedian and film star Craig Robinson, #1 New York Times bestselling author Adam Mansbach, and NAACP History Maker recipient and cartoonist Keith Knight.

Jake can barely play an instrument, not even a kazoo. And his art? It’s better suited for Pictionary than Picasso. Which is a real problem because Jake just faked his way into the Music and Art Academy for the gifted and talented (and Jake is pretty sure he is neither). More jokester than composer, Jake will have to think of something quick before the last laugh is on him.

Featuring more than 160 illustrations, Jake the Fake Keeps it Real is sure to bring the laughs with his hilarious high jinx!

Brief Bio of Craig Robinson

Comedian, musician and actor Craig Robinson transitions his flair for humor from the screen to the page in his authorial debut. He is best known for his work on NBC’s The Office, Hollywood comedy blockbusters This Is the End, Hot Tub Time Machine, and Pineapple Express, and the upcoming drama Morris from America. Robinson pulls on his life’s most hilarious moments and his experience attending Chicago’s first public magnet school to bring Jake the Fake to life. Robinson continues to act, perform, and cheer on the White Sox.

Additional co-creators of Nate the Fake include Adam Mansbach, a novelist, screenwriter, cultural critic, and humorist. The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Go the F*ck to Sleep and You Have to F*cking Eat, Mansbach has recently expanded his writing repertoire to include his debut thriller The Dead Run and middle-grade novel Benjamin Franklin: Huge Pain in My . . . His novel Rage Is Back was an NPR Best Book of the Year. Mansbach’s work has also appeared on NPR’s All Things Considered.

Keith Knight is a rapper, social activist, father, and educator.
