North Central College – Brainard Street at Jefferson Ave. Naperville, IL 60540
North Central College invites the community to attend its annual Cornerstone Day Picnic from 11AM to 1:30PM on Friday, May 20, at Jefferson Plaza, located on the lawn east of Brainard Street at Jefferson Avenue. The free event features sample cuisine provided by Chartwells and Naperville restaurants and entertainment by talented North Central College students. In the event of rain, the picnic will be held in the lobby of Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Cornerstone Day commemorates the College’s 1870 move to Naperville and the laying of the cornerstone for Old Main.

Above / North Central College Cornerstone Day 2016 attracted alums from 2004 and 1991 (and many other years!) to meet up with President Troy Hammond under the big tent during the annual community picnic on the third Friday in May.

Sponsored each spring by the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation, the district wide Fine Arts Festival showcases the art and music talents of all grade levels of our District 204 students.

From 1 to 3PM illustrator Marianne Lisson Kuhn and writer Todd Koenitz writer will be autographing their new book “Matty the Manate” at the Alive Center during the afternoon of the Art Slam. The purchase price is $10 with all proceeds going to the Alive Center. Copies of the new book also will be available to purchase through the evening VIP Cocktail Party ($50 per person), 6-8PM. Proceeds from the all-day fundraiser will benefit the NaperBridge Teen Center, “a place where teens can come have fun and be empowered to develop great friendships, communication skills and self discipline” within the Alive Center.

Naper Settlement is transformed into a Civil War encampment where visitors can meet famous figures of the past and experience firsthand a turbulent time period in our nations history. Hundreds of reenactors participate, culminating in staging a battle complete with raging cannons and marching infantry. This family-friendly event features food, fun and shopping on Sutlers Row for traditional Civil War-era reproduction products. Join the community for reflections about George Pradel’s five terms as Mayor of Naperville, when the city grew to be one of the most desirable communities for families in the United States.
