Naper Trivia – And the winner is…

-

Positively Naperville is happy to announce the grand prize winner of the 2016 Naper Trivia is Kate Schultz with a score of 3,997,344. Yes! Nearly 4 million points.

The grand prize for the highest score is a one-year membership to the brand new Signature Fitness Club, a 24-hour health club located at 1531 N. Aurora Road, and $200 in gift certificates to Catch 35, just in time for 2016 Naperville Restaurant Week, Feb. 15-29.

naper-trivia-2014web-logoSchultz, who has been Communications Specialist for the City of Naperville for eight years, entered the trivia contest on January 10.

When PN editors first noted her entry, we congratulated her for taking the lead, at which time she replied, “And thanks for putting together such a fun trivia game! A nice way to spend some time this chilly morning. Sports was my downfall, along with a few others, but it was fun to guess!”

And what a good-guessing strategist she was! Schultz remained the top scorer until 11:30PM January 25 when the game timed out.

Nine of the top 30 players scored more than 3 million points. Two players earned more than 2 million. And six scored more than 1 million.

When Schultz was notified of her victory, she replied, “How fun! I didn’t expect to keep my lead, but I’m sure glad I did.:) It was a good mix of trivia questions.”

And she added, “I looked at the prize listing again today and smiled. Over the holidays my father generously gifted me some dollars to go towards a year’s gym membership at the YMCA, and my husband and I have been having success with their class and fitness offerings. I’d love to ‘pay it forward’ and have the second place winner get the gym membership to Signature Fitness. … I just want to make sure such a great prize of health is shared with someone who doesn’t already have a gym membership and could truly benefit!”

Anyone who knows Kate Schultz knows she’s got the giving spirit. The idea to give the membership to someone who can use it now is, well, so Kate Schultz.

Bragging rights for the 2016 Naper Trivia go to: 1 – Kate Schultz – 3,997,344; 2 – Alexandra Kenyon – 3,958,474; 3 – Amy Stompanato – 3,830,177; 4 – Chuck Corrigan – 3,810,963; 5 – Joe Lichter – 3,801,685; 6 – Julie G – 3,621,910; 7 – Amy Thomas – 3,450,732; 8 – Bob Yetter – 3,429,676; 9 – Julie Gaedke – 3,403,69; 10 – Ray – 2,657,195; 11 – Kevin Gallaher – 2,132,082; 12 – Cindy Konn – 1,832,232; 13 – N. In addition to a grand prize for the best score, prizes will be awarded to the first person as well as the last person to enter the Pop Quiz. The first and last individuals were Dave Ferreri (first) and Julie Gaedke (last).

Answering all 50 questions (maybe more!) likely was easy for regular PN readers. A few surprise bonus questions provided opportunities for players to boost their score – determined by a super-secret algorithm.

Thanks to everyone who played. Congrats to all!

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
