MACLYN is moving to Naperville. The boutique advertising agency will open its new doors in its new space in May.
“MACLYN is a boutique advertising agency that has committed itself to creative that challenges the status quo and elevates brands,” said Bill Murphy, managing partner. “This has led to a culture of ‘it can always be better.’ It’s a culture that steers away from average. A culture dedicated to creating truly original ideas.”
Murphy has led the charge to elevate the firm’s approach to client work and agency culture. He made it a priority to recruit seasoned, award-winning creative talent from Chicago’s best agencies and with that the environment for this new talent needed an upgrade.
“MACLYN chose Naperville because of all the great things the city has to offer,” said Ray Kinney, another agency partner.
“Naperville provides a great location for our staff with easy access to highways, airports and downtown Chicago. The new location also provides access to countless restaurants for employees to enjoy and several venues to entertain clients,” Kinney said.
Still, MACLYN is more than a new building and passionate talent, Murphy noted. “It’s a culture, a culture based on not accepting ‘good enough.’”
“We really do drink the Kool-Aide around here, MACLYN Blue Kool-Aide, that is.” said Jay Paonessa, creative director. “‘Enemy of Average’ is our mantra and our message, leading our culture and the way we attack our work.

While providing a tour of the new space in late April, Kinney said the agency reached a point where it started growing out of its space, both literally and figuratively.
“Our culture has allowed for a higher level of work,” added Kinney. “We’ve worked very hard to ensure that our new space is at the level of our agency’s success. We’ve spared no detail to make sure this is an amazing and inspiring place to work. It’s truly been a labor of love.”
“It’s been a significant investment on our part, with my partners and our banking partner First Community Financial Bank of Naperville—it’s been a big investment from our standpoint,” said Kinney. … “We know we want to be here for the foreseeable future, for the next 20 years. We’ve put a lot of money into this building.”
During the recent election campaign, some candidates expressed interest in redeveloping some of the Ogden Corridor … and to see the vacancies along Ogden Avenue filled.
“This is a great entrance point to Naperville,” said Kinney. “People come off the toll way to come here. Once we refresh the building with the façade on the outside, it will make a statement.”
