DuPage Veterans Foundation will host its 5th Annual Fundraiser for Honor Flight Chicago flights to Washington, D.C., from 11AM to 3PM Sat., May 7, 2016.
Members of the volunteer organization will honor World War II and Korean War Era Veteran heroes during festivities again planned at the Calamos Hangar at the DuPage Airport in West Chicago.
All proceeds from this annual event will benefit Honor Flight Chicago.
Admission tickets are $30 per adult in advance ($40 at the door) and $20 per child.
Admission is free of charge to World War II and Korean War Era Veterans and active duty military in uniform.
The public is welcome to come out and have lunch with these special men and women in a show of appreciation for their military service to the United States of America.
Individuals who have a family member or know of a Veteran of either of these eras, are urged to help spread the word by inviting them or bringing them to this luncheon event.
A memorable patriotic program including the Naperville Municipal Big Band; Color Guard; The Naperville Firefighters Highland Guard; and more, will pay tribute to all the honored guests.
Lunch is included in the price of admission along with some nostalgic entertainment from the “Legacy Girls” who will perform WWII/Korean War era music for the enjoyment of everyone.
Above / The Legacy Girls again will perform upbeat music for singing and dancing to the memorable tunes that became popular during the 1940s and 50s.
In addition, many organizations will set up displays of period military vehicles, aircraft and memorabilia.
Most importantly, organizers aim for every one of the WWII and Korean War heroes in attendance to be recognized for their service during the program. This recognition luncheon provides a unique opportunity to hear amazing stories and shake hands in gratitude with many veterans and their families.
Auction items, sponsors & donations welcome
The fundraising event also will offer a silent auction featuring a wide array of items from local merchants as well as “special” raffles during the event, organizers said.
