Camp Naper offers summer adventures for children in grades 1-8

Attention adventurous, fun-loving kids! Explore science, art, music, sports, cooking, history and much more at Camp Naper, held from June 22 through July 31 on the 12-acre museum campus of Naper Settlement. There are one-day, two-day, three-day and week long camps for children in grades 1-8, all supervised by experienced adult counselors. Registration begins March 2.

Super Scout Sunday – Playing with History

Dress up as a Victorian young adult and experience life as they would have, during Super Scout Sunday – Playing with History from 1 to 4PM Sun., March 8. Tour the Martin Mitchell Mansion to see where you would have lived and visit a one-room schoolhouse for a lesson with the schoolteacher. Make accessories to match your new look. Play games from the turn of the 19th century. The program is open to Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Girl Scouts can earn the Junior Playing the Past Badge. Fee is $27 per Scout; registration is required.

History Speaks Lecture Series: Juliette Kinzie

Relive the early days of the frontier with writer, historian and pioneer Juliette Magill Kinzie, portrayed by Betsey Means, during this History Speaks presentation from 4 to 5PM Sun., March 8 at Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel. Juliette Magill married the famous Chicago fur trader John H. Kinzie in 1830, who invited her to share with him the great adventure of life in the Northwest Territory. Day of event tickets are $7 adults, $6 youth (4-12), students and NHSS members. Advance tickets save $1 each.

Maple Sugaring Days

Come celebrate the changing of the seasons during Maple Sugaring Days, an annual celebration of spring, held from 10AM to 4PM Sat., March 14 and from 1 to 4PM Sun., March 15. Learn the time-honored method of collecting sap the old-fashioned way, see a maple tree tapping demonstration, participate in hands-on activities and try a tasty maple treat. Admission is $12 adults, $10 seniors (62+) and $8 youth (4-12). Naperville residents and members are free.

Weed Ladies Spring & Summer Show & Sale

The Weed Ladies spring and summer sale features creative seasonal floral arrangements with silk and dried florals and will be held from 10AM to 4PM Thurs.-Sat., March 19-21 and from 1 to 4 PM Sun., March 22. Admission to the sale is free.
