The Conservation Foundation welcomes its newest board member, Lois Vitt Sale, Chief Sustainability Officer at Wight & Company, Darien.
Vitt Sale brings a vast array of experience to the Board as a proven leader in sustainable design and construction.
She has worked as a practicing architect for more than 25 years and has been a national leader in the application of private and commercial green technologies and sustainable planning to the public and private sectors.
Her portfolio contains more than 70 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects including Knoch Knolls Nature Center in Naperville (located across from The Conservation Foundation’s headquarters), Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Bolingbrook, and the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago.
Vitt Sale teaches sustainable construction as adjunct faculty at Northwestern University and LEED Faculty with the U.S. Green Building Council.
She was featured in the Fall, 2014 edition of Living Architecture Monitor with a photo of her sitting on the green roof she installed at her Downers Grove home.
The Conservation Foundation is one of the region’s largest and oldest private conservation organizations — with more than 4,000 members and donors, and more than 500 volunteers who contribute 20,000 hours per year.
