The month of June has traditionally been known for Weddings and warm summer weather. In fact, June 3 has been officially designated as “Love Conquers All” Day.
So maybe you and your significant other might find a nice pleasant day, head downtown and take a look at how Century Walk deals with a local “Love Story” across Main Street from Sullivan‘s.
It is there that you will see “A Lifetime Together,” a bronze sculpture depicting the love story of Jane Latshaw and William “Billy” Scherer setting on a park bench, holding hands and smiling at one another.
On display beside them are two special memories – a copy of a letter that Jane wrote to an ailing Billy while in elementary school and a note that Billy signed with a college friend betting $.50 that he would someday marry his childhood sweetheart which he did in a marriage in 1941 that lasted over 60 years.
And while you’re there, you might sit down beside them and use it as a perfect opportunity for a selfie telling your own special love story.
